We are delighted to be running a workshop on using British Sign Language as a Creative Tool with Theatre Royal Stratford East on the 7th March 2017.
Writer, Samantha Sutherland, and actor & BSL Singer Jennifer Wilson, from Door Ajar Theatre will run this introductory workshop on using BSL in a creative context. Drawing on their recent experiences creating Thisbe, an actor-musician production featuring integrated BSL throughout, Sam and Jenny will share exercise and techniques that will show how to use BSL creatively and as a storytelling device.
BSL is a language that brings a visual dimension to theatre. Even if you have no knowledge of BSL, this workshop will make us think differently about how we can utilise more than one language in theatre. No experience necessary, just a willingness to have a go.
The workshop will take place at Stratford East on 7th March 2017 from 6.00pm - 8.00pm and tickets cost £8.

"Door Ajar's Thisbe is a fusion of a magic, music and levity which reminds us why Midsummer's is so much fun while still feeling totally new. Comic & heartfelt performances from a multi-talented, character-changing, instrument-swapping cast keep the energy going throughout - a real joy to experience."
